What makes this book interesting is that although it is fictional it echoes some experiences known to most of us such as the rivalry between brothers which is typical for adolescent. Another thing I like is this book, through the personage of Keith, teaches us how excessive shame and guilt can lead to self destruction. And in fact the last iner-demons he has to win in order to regain his life are guilt and shame. And this is where his friend acted like a real mentor helping him handle his guilt feeling.
It’s easy to read as it’s not long. Hard to stop it and put it down before the end as it’s very relatable. It gave me chills and excitement. Haven’t had tears in my eyes for quite while from reading anything. This story just made that change... I recommend to anyone.
I knew that it was a good book because the author had me both loving and hating the main character Keith. A lot of his struggles, whether it being an outside entity or something internally within himself, made it more relatable to me which is what I look for when reading books. I want to feel like I'm right there. It just hurts that I was left hanging in the end but luckily for me, there's a sequel. I am almost done with Cougar but love it even more than this In an Instant, so I purchased a few more copies for my friends to indulge as well. I can't wait to see what's next. Great job author!
When I was given the opportunity to read this title, I was instantly hooked. The raw emotions that are woven within each character echoes the silence, peer pressure & frustrations of all young adults, in some way. This author doesn't just give a voice to urban young adults but to every young adults attempting to navigate themselves through life. This was an interesting read & I would definitely recommend this title.
Tasteful, quick easy read.
A wonderful and easy read. A truly heart rending story I could relate to. The emotions of the moments were aptly captured by the use of words and inflections.
